One of Sally's favorite things to do in all of California is to see the elephant seals. You can find them an easy 15-minute drive south of the hotel at Elephant Seal Vista Point.
The previous estate of William Randolph Hearst is now a historic house museum and a California State Park. Keep an eye out for the zebras...
The endless beauty of Big Sur awaits. You can see redwoods, wildlife, beaches, and mountains. But keep in mind that if the trail goes down, you have to go back up!
Ragged Point Inn is an hour from Paso Robles, the heart of California's Central Coast wine region. Go see Tooth and Nail Winery, where Sally and Amir spent their first anniversary and where Amir casually mentioned they should get married.
Drive up the coast for as far as you can ideally to Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park where you can see the famous Big Sur waterfall. Please note that road closures in the area might limit how far you can go, so make sure to plan in advance.
Morro Bay is one of the loveliest places to see natural California beauty with zero effort. Sally's favorite is Dockside Too Fish Market. You stand in line, order fish, find a table, and watch the otters float by. Yes, it's actually heaven.
