Semi-formal, but ties are optional. Think cocktail dresses for the ladies and suits with jackets for men. Please note that Big Sur weather is highly variables and some of the festivities will be hosted outside. Expect to walk in grass (reconsider those high heels) and bring a sweater or jacket.
Lord knows. We have gotten lucky in the past with having beautiful weather at the end of March/beginning of April, but we have also frozen our butts of in the middle of summer. On average, expect 60s during the day and 40s at night. Rain is possible but it's usually more a mist. We will move indoors after sunset to make sure everyone stays warm and comfy. Please bring a light jacket!
We highly encourage everyone to stay on-site at Ragged Point Inn; however, there are only 3 rooms left as of January 2022. Please book ASAP if you plan to stay on-site.
If you want to stay close to the Inn, we recommend looking for accommodation in San Simeon or Cambria. You can't go wrong with anything along Moonstone Beach in Cambria.
If you want to stay deeper into Big Sur, then we recommend Treebones Resort, which is 25 minutes from Ceremony and Reception Site. Please note that Treebones can get booked out 6-months in advance, and is already mostly booked for April 2022. If they are fully booked, Lucia Lodge is gorgeous but further away. We don't recommend Gorda Springs Resort. Please do not stay in the town of Big Sur as it's far away and you will likely be disappointed. You are at risk of road closures if you go too far north of Ragged Point Inn.
If you are looking for a budget option, San Simeon is usually cheaper than Cambria. If you want to go super budget, then consider camping! There are A TON of GORGEOUS camping spots in the area.
Great question! Ragged Point Inn is an unpretentious, family-owned business in southern Big Sur. It hangs off the edge of a cliff and has early-2000s vibes (interpret that as you see fit). There is a restaurant, gas station, and general store onsite, which will cover all your basic wants and needs.
Expect to disconnect because the Inn has very poor WiFi. There is also VERY limited cell service past San Simeon, so be prepared with offline maps of the area. For note, AT&T works A LOT better than Verizon. Sally has AT&T, Amir has Verizon. Let that guide who you reach out to in your time of need.
Ragged Point Inn is located at 19019 CA-1, Ragged Point, CA 93452.
The closest airport is San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport (SBP). From San Luis Obispo you just hop on the 1 - North for 60 beautiful, gorgeous miles of California coastline.
Living in LA?
If you are coming from LA, then you are in for a treat! It's the most gorgeous time of year to drive to Big Sur. Expect wildflowers galore! Leaving LA drive North up the 101, you will turn on to the 1 - North in San Luis Obispo. Keep following the 1 past Morro Bay, Cayucos, Cambria, and San Simeon. After San Simeon you will see the mountains of Big Sur in the distance. You will find Ragged Point Inn on your left after a couple of sharp turns into those mountains... it's hard to miss. Welcome to Big Sur!
